About

Kennel Byonics Cane Corso and Dog Training, was started in 1998 by myself Mitch Keating and a few great dogs. I have been involved with dogs since I was young. I started training dogs seriously in 1994. I trained my first dog in obedience, then I  bought another dog and trained him in agility. Both dogs were cross breeds; as time went on, I wanted to find a dog that was unique. This is when I developed a liking for the Cane Corso.  I spent more than a year researching the breed. A few years later I had found some great dogs and began a breeding program. Keeping the character and temperament first in my program and then assuring health and type; I have been fortunate to retain some excellent dogs with type and character. My Cane Corso’s, make excellent home protectors, and loving family members.

I have always had a passion for dogs. When I was nineteen, I bought a GSD cross and a dog training video. I spent a couple months training her as a pup and she turned out to be a great dog. Three years later, I was living in the city and decided to get another dog. I found a chow cross in the paper, well he turned out to be more like a red border collie, but none the less he picked up on the training, he would close a door, roll over shake and all the fun stuff.
One day while I was in a pet store looking through a dog advertisement magazine, I found the Cane Corso. Very intrigued by the look I started to research and call around.

There were many breeders at that time, it has probably quadrupled since then, but still I had many choices. Not many people seemed to understand what I was looking for. Being told that their dogs were being sold by color, or sex, or size. I just wanted a good dog that I could train and be proud to own. Not that my current pets at the time, Bass and Kelly weren’t great dogs, I loved them very much. I had to gamble, I trusted a breeder that did not fill me with bull. Example being, “all these puppies are the same, very protective and confident”.

I knew from choosing my first two pups and through the research that I had read on dogs and puppies that that was nearly, if not impossible, to have the exact same character throughout a litter.

Anyone who sells a dog through pricing it by color does not care about temperament, or preserving the breed, to the highest of its potential. Now more common than previously know, through the help of the dog whisperer, and other canine psychology shows, is that all dogs have a unique and distinct character. Some people may not have much canine background, and can assume to believe breeders on there trust, that they are being honest. I then decided I should take the breed and try to preserve its true character by selectively breeding, and at the same time offer honest information about my dogs and practices; with the Cane Corso reproduction.

I started looking for breeding stock, I bought a dog from Holland name Noe; I already had a female Ch. Stonecrofts Tilly who was already trained in obedience personal protection and some agility. These two dogs produced some great dogs. One of whom is Byonics Chingalana whom we owned for 3 years, as well as our own Liana.

TillyThrough the years we were given dogs to use or train, but not many of them had qualities I was looking for. Mason was a great dog very trainable and trustworthy, and now we have Bella who is line bred off of Byonics Noe. Pippin, who is from two infamous known dogs and Kato, perhaps the last of his kind, Kato is from a very unique bloodline.

We are breeding dogs to better the breed. I am not a salesman,

I will tell you just how it is when you ask a question, and I can back up what I say with evidence. I will provide your family with a safe, healthy, beautiful, and protective Cane Corso. Further along, I will explain and state my experience with training, and psychologically assessing dogs and puppies. I strive to provide a great example of the breed in type character and health.  Byonics breeds dogs that physically follow the Italian standard and attain the correct temperament and character that this noble breed is written about.

Liana After Getting My first Cane Corso puppy, I had begun training locally with a variety of trainers focusing on obedience but also getting to know the protection sports.

I had begun trianing with my dogs, and placing very well among GSD’s, Rottweilers, and other breeds know for their ability to compete in protection sport. Every weekend, and moment I had to spare was put into training. I started to train dogs for people in the town I was living near, I was working with some groups still as well. I had read many books and viewed and studied training videos with a variety of techniques. I do not believe any of them led me astray from where I am today. I learned many different methods and currently still am learning each time I see something new, that I haven’t tried before.

I began teaching community education classes and working with 4-h clubs.
In 2005, I bought a home in Grantsburg Wisconsin; here I started an “in house training program”. I offer a variety of services for dog obedience, and behavior modification, manipulation, and rehabilitation. Information on these services is available on the training page within this site. I breed my Cane Corso’s every other heat cycle, there is usually a litter in the fall and one in the spring, if you would like to place a deposit on a future breeding please feel free to contact me. If there are any other questions about myself or my programs feel free to contact me via phone or e-mail.
